About Mrs. Holly Garcia...
I grew up in northwest Iowa and graduated from Battle Creek - Ida Grove High School in 2002. I attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated in May 2006 with a degree in Chemistry Teaching and then earned a Masters in Science Education in 2013.
I have been teaching at Riverside High School since August 2006 and I am proud to be a part of our great school district. I love science and fostering scientific curiosity in all students! Outside of school, I enjoy baking, gardening, golfing, singing, cooking, plays/musicals, traveling to see friends and family, and learning more about science! I got married on June 4, 2016 and went from being Ms. Hinkhouse to Mrs. Garcia! Then, in April 2018, we welcomed our beautiful daughter Lucy! I love the wonders and magic of science.....if you would like to explore some fun, easy science experiments, look here! And, if you like cookies, check out my Chemistry Cookies YouTube channel! In April 2011, I was honored to be a recipient of the Yager Award for Exemplary Science Teaching and, in April 2017, I received the Excellence in Science Teaching Award from the Iowa Academy of Science.
