About Mrs. Holly Garcia...
I grew up in northwest Iowa and graduated from Battle Creek - Ida Grove High School in 2002. I attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated in May 2006 with a degree in Chemistry Teaching and then earned a Masters in Science Education in 2013.
I have been teaching at Riverside Junior-Senior High School since August 2006 and I am proud to be a part of our great school district. I love science and fostering scientific curiosity in all students! Outside of school, I enjoy reading, gardening, golfing, singing, cooking, traveling to see friends and family, and learning more about science! I got married on June 4, 2016 and went from being Ms. Hinkhouse to Mrs. Garcia!
I love the wonders and magic of science.....if you would like to explore some fun, easy science experiments, look here!
In April 2011, I was honored to be a recipient of the Yager Award for Exemplary Science Teaching and, in April 2017, I received the Excellence in Science Teaching Award from the Iowa Academy of Science.
